Backups of your system can be done manually. Typically, saving
a tar.gz copy of your home directory and a copy of
/etc/sidious.config is sufficient. If you have installed
programs in /opt, /apps, or other locations, making
tar files of these is a good idea as well.
A typical recover sequence might be something like this:
- Using the CD, install from scratch again.
- Replace /etc/sidious.config with the saved one (this restores
all settings, fstab, swap space, rc.local.)
- Use adduser to create your /etc/passwd entry again.
- Untar home directories and any other tarred backups.
